getrag input shaft bearing

getrag input shaft bearing

quick question. can you replace input shaft bearing without going into the transmission? thanks

No. All bearings are inside the case. Ifyou rinput bearing is bad, it isnt a bad idea to replace all the others while you're in there. A bearing and synchro kit on only $200-225.

If you don't have the Getrag portion of the factory service manual, PM me with your e-mail address and and I'll e-mail you the .pdf file. It gives you the breakdown as well as teardown and reassembly instructions. It's what I used to rebuild my Getrag.

If you want a quick and temporary fix, you might be able to get by with a new pilot bushing. They are usually worn out if over 100,000 miles.
