well when the trany got stuck in reverse and would not come out i had to remove it. what i found was the spring loaded tooth under snik ring jump part way out and block ring from moveing off reverse. Now iended up replaceing-input shaft,mainshaft,all the bearings. New shims for bearing perload of 0.007th. by the manal. I also replaced springs,*****,teeth,under sink rings. now back together with 4-5 noisey removed tranfercase to alemant that the noise is in the trany ANY IDEAES

 

preload looks good and correct. Definitely a head scratcher. In what condition were your shift forks? Worn out or bent?

 

shift forks look good to new one i got 5-reverse

 

i am going to remove the shimpack to do a recheak to make sure i did not fumble the meserments

 

Make sure the bearings are preloaded and not clearance fit.
