Gear Lube change

I'm going to change the oil in the transfer case, and front and rear diffs. I looked around on here and it looks like any oil thats GL-5 will do. I'm thinking about going with 75W140 synthetic all around. Truck is driving empty most of the time. Once in a while I flat tow or move a car with a tow dolly. no plans for any towing over 4000lbs at the moment if that means anything.

Also my next question to check the rear brakes do I have to take off the diff cover to remove the axles? If so I will just do it all at once. I have not found that good of a description in the dodge service manual.

Can't go wrong with that oil choice.

Pull all the bolts out and whack on the end of the axle with a big hammer. The end is stuck to the hub with a gasket or RTV and may take a couple whacks to break loose. Once it drops, just pull it out. Have a pie pan or similar handy to catch the few dribbles of gear oil that will come out of the hub.
