full power screw-lock nut removal.
full power screw-lock nut removal.
Hey guys, i have wanted to remove the full power screw lock nut for a while, but am a little intimidated. my biggest question is how do you know where it was, in terms of location, when you pull it out, then put it back in? also, how do you actually remove the collar? my last question is, i have it cranked in about 1.5 turns now with the lock collar on. is it worth taking it off and squeezing out another turn?
thanks

For starters I noticed in your sig there is no 3200gov spring now would be the Ideal time for that. When you do the spring you remove the top of the pump which makes it real easy to get to the full power screw, what I did was I took a measurement of how far the screw protruded that way I knew where it was. Take the screw out and use a pair of vice grips and a screw driver and take the collar off, once the collar is off take a small triangular file and clean up the treads so you can back the nut off smoothly. Then reassemble all and turn that screw in till runaway then back it off a bit until your happy with the idle and power.
Hope this is some help Ryan

I counted how many turn it took to get it out, and put it back in that many turns. Not dead nuts on, but pretty close. Measuring it would be a great way to do it. Especially with a 6" machinist rule or something small yet accurate like that.
