Fuel tank strap

Hope someone can help.... My rear fuel tank strap broke and are now N/A from the dealer. I've been looking around locally and nobody can seem to order or find it. Any ideas? I can weld it but I'ld prefer to replace it if possible

i made my one. no welding necessary. I used a piece of bar stock and bent mine using a brake to the shape of the original. then used my angle grinder to cut the notches.

Found one...

I tried the local radiator/gas tank repair shop. Didn't have it in stock but ordered it outta Toronto overnight for $59Can for both straps. I think $59 Can is about $3.75 U.S. now that the U.S. dollar is back up and the Canadian down.

Both mine were toast as was the crossmember that is at the rear of the tank. I got the crossmember at the local boneyard and had a local welding/fab shop make me new straps out of stainless steel. Think I had $60 in everything.

Thats what I would have done if I didn't have a new one already.

I had to rebuild part of the rear cross member on the one 93, I used 1/4" by 2 and welded, bent, cut it to fit like the original. The frame was so bad I had to add a whole piece of 1/4" plate to the side and bottom, a tremendous amount of work, pull the utility box that was welded on, had to make now spring hangers, sandblast the mess, paint, weld, etc.....

yep, it was quite simple. i had the old strap that rusted though and just used it as the template. if you don't have a brake they can be had at harbor freight for cheap. Plus it gives you and excuse to get a new tool.
