Question Fuel Shut Down Gutting ?'s

Ok so I finaly got around to gutting the FSS. I'm now on the pull cable only in the single cab and the crew.
I now have more fuel it seems. Will gutting it give more fuel to the pump? I've noticed grey in the black smoke out of the stack, it seems to be just around the outside of the stream coming out but this was not there before "fixing" the FSS. I'm not getting any air in the fuel (from what I can tell) and I put the oring back on the FSS before I reinstalled it without the plunger and spring. I also got rid of the power wire going to it.
So any thoughts, If I were to back the fuel screw out 1 turn then I'd be at the stock level on fuel screw. The truck "feels" like it has more power but the smoke is a bit out of control, I'm going to put a valet switch on this truck in the very near future. But the grey has me worried a bit, I'm sure my fuel milage is going going gone!
Thanks in Advance
Justin

That wire also powers the ksb I am not sure if that will cause your problem or not though.

hmm It could maybe let a little more fuel through. Maybe it was stickin? I may have to take mine out and see what it does. I ground mine down and use it with my cooldown timer now so it works, but maybe for a dyno or somethin, it might be worth takin out.

Well I'm not suggesting that guys should gut it for more power. From the very little I know about these pumps it would not allow extra fuel into the pump. So this is the reason I'm asking because I'm conserned that something has gone wrong, But I'm not sure if what I've done has casued it or just happened to happen when I did this "mod".

Bump, still the same issues. Anyone else experience this when taking out the fss?
