is a fuel pressure gauge a useful tool with our trucks? Not trying to hijack your thread, just thought it was a good place to ask!

If You Put Bigger Injectors On Like I Did. Yes It's Amust''''''
I Got Great Bottom End But NO Top End Power. Sounds Like A Fuel Problem Thats How You See Check It.

Yes, a FP gauge is a very good idea on our trucks and here's the reason. The VE uses fuel for three things:1-to make the engine run2-to lubricate the pump and 3-to cool the pump--as fuel bypasses back to the tank, it carries away heat much like antifreeze does. Lack of fuel pressure can potentially lower the overall volume of fuel going through the pump at any given moment, allowing unwanted heat to build up. Plus, the close-tolerance piston and rotor assembly do NOT put up with contaminated fuel for very long--as I'm finding out the hard way So, quality and quantity of fuel is very important to the VE. A FP gauge should be POST filter so the gauge tells you exactly what the VE inlet is 'seeing' in terms of pressure...in other words, fuel filter restriction is taken into account.

FWIW, beyond its ability to deliver absurd amounts of fuel, the P-7100 is also lubed and cooled by engine oil, making it that much more robust.

Here's a pic of Dave's setup--notice the nylon for the FP gauge is just before the inlet to the VE, plumbed into the bypass line. He has a bypass style regulator to handle the flow capacity of the Walbro.
