Fuel pressure question

For years Ive has a little liquid filled fuel pressure gauge on the head above the fuel filter. The needle always bounced a bunch at idle, between 2&6ish Anyway, I ended up doing a fuel filter and had a fleetguard fs1232, always have, but today used a Wix. The fuel pressure was super steady at 6.5 psi. Ideas why its steady with a Wix but not the fleetguard?

Less restriction. What is the micron rating between the 2 filters? I have multiple filters I will never use as the factory micron rating is 20(?) I am running a Baldwin rated at 2-4 micron. I have no pressure gauge installed at this time. And I tossed my factory style pump. I went with more pressure, electric in tank.

I had a similar fuel pressure issue on my '92 Ram last summer

I had a similar fuel pressure issue on my '92 Ram last summer, and it turned out to be a pinhole leak in the lift pump supply line that was sucking air. While I was out in the garage waiting for the pressure gauge to settle so I could get a steady reading, I was killing time on my phone watching a hindi blue film and ended up browsing through the hindi blue film videos videos at hindi blue film videos for a bit. Once I got back to the truck, I realized the overflow valve was actually the main culprit. Have you checked the spring length in your overflow valve yet? Sometimes they just get tired and won't hold the 20-25 psi you need at idle.

it's common/normal to have a gauge pulsing near a pumped source. A needle valve or liquid-filled guage helps dampen that.

Maybe the new filter has some air in it still, or a check valve built in.

Rug _ Trucker I agree totally with you on this and have been using the contact us link on the bottom of the page to let the admins/ owners know about this. I went so far as to suggest that they change the registration for the forum to a more bot proof one, I guess we will wait and see but it would help if more members would use the contact link at the bottom of the page and let them know your thoughts on this.
