fuel drip
it seems to be coming from the front of the pump where it bolts on to the engine. the shop intown says I may need to get the pump rebuilt if it is a seal in the front of the pump. any advice is appreciated
You can have it resealed if the IP is still good and not rebuild. There a lots of seals You can remove Yourself and there is a thread here that explains how re-seal the entire IP. Word of advice, if You do this last make sure You put everything the same way it was.
It seems like this drip was coming from what I find out is the timing pin bolt. There was a brass colored plate on the outboard side of the pump with the same colored bolt thru it. It wasn't really loose but not very tight. I backed it off and retightened it slightly and the drip seems to have stopped. Is there fuel pressure behind this bolt or just fuel? Some one told me not to tighten the bolt to much or it may score the govenor shaft. Is there an o-ring on this bolt or a fibre washer or what? Any more suggestions are appreciated.
