Hey Jon I would say do this go crossover steering you will kick yourself for not doing it sooner you have a good lift and let me tell you it will make a heck of a big difference on how the truck handles .

You can box the front of the frame with Jungle's Crossover frame boxing kit. You are using crossover already right?

http://ramchargercentral.com/fabrica...rame-supports/

I just received mine in the mail for the '74 RC. It is a great kit.

What is the minimum lift to use the crossover steering,
And what about the frame still twisting at the box with the crossover steering?

On the frame itself, behind where the steering box mount attaches, look to see if the frame itself is cracked in the top and bottom flanges (common). If so weld it up there.

You don't have to cut the frame to box it in, use jungles kit from above and weld it in. I will be boxing both sides when i put my crossover in. NWFab has a crossover kit which they say will fit with no lift, i am installing it shortly.
