found a he351cw
found a he351cw
just as described from a salvager, loose compressor wheel, and a lot of loose ones to choose from, im going to need the rebuild kit and new comp. wheel, the exhaust side had a little interference, at the inner blade radius, but looks decent, makes me wonder what kind of life it had under the circumstance, did they change oil ever? or does this '06 already have 350k miles. anyway im in need of a comp wheel, rebuild kit, the exhaust outlet and clamp, and im wondering if i want to modify the waste gate, or terminate it, my hx35 gets 40 psi, im seeing similar numbers from others that are ungated, im finally considering upgrading the injectors moderately. i tried to locate parts locally, with no luck, im going to need a resource, any suggestions?
Its probably cheaper to find a good used 351 for what it will cost to rebuild that one.
Here is a rebuild kit:

your probably right, this unit really has no parts available as of yet, parts are expensive, they ran it way too far past the point where it could be rebuilt, maybe some parts can come from another core, to get it back in action.
he351cw part numbers
i found parts, and numbers, the compressor wheel is printed #4035879, the turbine wheel and shaft is #4035271, no visible number, the rebuild kit is #4031484, turbo supply stocks the parts.
A note on the rebuild kit i linked, i used it on mine which i just rebuilt 2 days ago. It is labeled for a hy35 but they use the same kit. Worked well.
I did see a number on my compressor but didnt pay attention to it, wouldnt be hard to pull off and check it though to verify.

An HE341 uses the same exhaust housing, center shaft housing and shaft, as does an HY35.
I still have to put mine together, but I may end up with a spare tight center section and exhaust housing, but the spare shaft assembly is chowed.
Mine had a valve seat run through it and it got into the exhaust wheel and spun a nice groove into it.
Fortunately, I answered an ad on C/L for some other turbos and the guy had a 351CW that had been dropped, but the center and shaft parts were fine.
I've tried everywhere I know locally and anyone who is able to deal with the Holset dealers clams up when I ask for service parts for these things.
Short of a basic rebuild kit, they won't offer me any other information.
That is why I went the used route on parts.
Mark.

off the part numbers i posted, the exhaust turbine wheel shaft priced at 178.00, the comp wheel 210.00, rebuild kit 80.00 im looking for another complete turbo, and figure ill eventualluy find parts to re assemble this one, i did come across one with a cracked center section, blades were locked, probably not good, another had fire, also not much to get happy over, id consider another complete assembly for the 300. range, all the salvagers are wanting 6-8 c-notes, ill just keep looking/in competition with all the others that desire the cw, the import car enthus have hit these strong, leaving limited pickings. do the part numbers coincide with the hy?

One of those "import car enthus" sold me my parts, CHEAP.
He also indicated that the HX40 compressor wheel works with the HE351cw compressor housing.
I'm going to pick up an HE341 from him to-morrow, actually.

that would save me 160. if i can go there, the turbine wheel shaft wasnt too bad. the hy shaft cross to the same part number? if you dont know, ill research it next week, thanks mark.
The HE341 I am going to get to-morrow was there in pieces with the HE341CW center pieces that I acquired from the same guy.
While I was there I slid each shaft from both centers into the centers and they fit perfectly.
I further did a comparison of shape and wheel diameter and both were EXACTLY the same.
All that is different from 341 to 351 is the size of the compressor wheel and the compressor housing.
That having been said I'm "TOLD" that the HY35 uses a similar shaft, but that there may be a difference in the bushing sizes.
Don't quote me on that, though.

Supposedly the big side of the HX40 compressor wheel is the same, but I have no experience with it, personally.
I do know the HE341 requires machining the cartridge housing, under the compressor wheel, to make the HE351 wheel fit on it.

im going down to get some questions answered at bae turbo alhambra, seen them selling turbine wheels on ebay, bob down there says the rebuilders use the hx35 turbine shafts on multiple housings, there are 2 hx40 wheels, 84 or 86 mm, its looking like the bigger might be a direct replacement, he says hes got a huge inventory of parts, ill get the low down dry fitting parts to see what gives, ill post the results, and sources.
