Fixing Inj pump linkage

Well I guess since I had my inj pump on and off so may times while trying to get it to work.. I broke the plastic linkage.

So I decided it was time to update it.. but I also wanted it adjustable.

Here is what I did:

Bought
(1) 6" piece of 10x24 Threaded rod
(2) 10x24 rod ends from carquest
(2) 10x24 nuts to use as jam nuts

I then took measurements of old linkage and made the new linkage the same.
I had to cut off old mounting ball for old linkage, but new rod ends came with a ball that had a nut so it went right into old hole

Hope you can see from the pics

Looks good. Probably cheaper than the Cummins parts, too.

Nice job..
Is there some reason you have the spring helping the throttle OPEN?
I have mine pulling off the transmission kick down linkage.
I have all of the parts to do mine but they are still all neatly stored in a little plastic bag waiting to get some time.
Did you remove the bellcrank to cut the old ball off or did you do it on the truck?

Jim

Nice job.
Im a bit confused, that cheese spring is just like the one on both of mine and they are holding the lever in the "no fuel" position. I dont see any spring holding the throttle open.
again, nice job!

The spring is on right, sometimes you need to add another from the throttle lever to the kickdown too. That way your trans shifts right.

For more fun, swap the linkage end and the spring. Makes getting full throttle travel easy.

I had to do that at the last stage of tweaking a few weeks ago after I realized I was not getting full travel from the stock position anymore with that high idle screw turned back. It makes the accelerator a little harder to push but at the same time, feels more responsive. I like it!

Go to the hardware store and get a weaker return spring.
