first gen love

i love first gens. plain and simple. yes they ride like ****, might seem ugly to some people and the brakes arent the greatest but i want to see these 2nd and 3rd gen guys work on their trucks! i cant stand the lack of room. i love how these trucks look, run, sound and the simplicity of it. whats the point of having a ball joint, full time 4wd dana 60?

so if money was no object, in a fairy tale world what truck would you pick to have BRAND NEW? i know id pick a brand new 1st gen over a 2nd or 3rd!

so? take the poll

Well, In a fairy tale world right now... I would buy as many first gens as I could find and store them away... But I love my 3rd gen Mega... ya... if the check engine light is on...I'm screwed but... It rides nice and I love traveling in it... So..I voted 3rd gen... "PRE-6.7"...he...he

I love the fact that these are the last great work trucks. Very little electronic engine management, rock solid frame and suspension, and a no nonsense appearance with the aerodynamics of a brick. Yes some have electric mirrors and door locks etc. but those are the Cowboy Cadillacs of old. Today they are a blank canvas for self expression of the nonconformists. A roll back from the hotrod era that is often overlooked. Where else can you increase horsepower and torque by making a few simple adjustments that can and have put some rice burners in their place. You gotta love em.

HELL YEAH!!! My dream truck I own! A 1992, W350, CC, 5spd, 4x4, DUALLY! Sure I want to swap in a NV4500. But 2nd gen auto guys swap in BD trannies. Does that mean they dont like thier truck, NO! It just means they want to improve on what the factory overlooked. I in no way am trying to put down anyones truck!!! I am a Mopar/Cummins nut! My dad started this F E V E R 16yrs ago when he bought his first gen brand new. Now I am whopped, hooked, and plain retarded on first gens!!!! Prefer duallies but I think they all are the best trucks ever made! Simple and to the point! Frills, anti-spin rear and captain chairs/console. WOW, the truck is loaded!!!!! And it didnt cost $50k! First Gens forever!

I voted first gen only because I haven't purchased a 3rd gen yet. I won't give up on the 1st gens. but I want a CR, Crew Cab, Dually, and 6spd. 2nd gens have their perks as well, P-pumps are awesome, along with the NV4500 and lock-up automatics. But, VP44's SUCK.

Don't you think the poll results will be a little skewed asking this question in a 1st gen forum?

You may be a little right! I have never riden in a 3rd gen. (I do like the crew cabs) But I have owned a 1998 12v, 4x4, qc, auto. Truck had plenty of power and a comfortable ride. But everytime I drove it I missed my brick I had left in the driveway. It was like I was cheating on it! I love that it seems everytime I get it out I have everyone asking me if its for sale. Ford people, Chevy people, and fellow later model Dodge owners! Can second and third gen guys make this claim? Im sure some can if they are built trucks or highly accessoried! But just stock trucks! ??????? I had to get rid of the 98!!!
