Finally started, heres my list

Finally got the diesel into the shop last weekend, started slow by talking the hood and windshield out, cut the roof back a bit to deal with the rot, and took the seat out. i know it doesnt sound like much but i have a very busy schedule, work girly friend etc. im still not even within range of hittin my goal,( dream 1st gen) but its beginning. i will be using this site alot more now and asking alot of questions. im going to pull a jim lane and put all new carpeting and sound deadening equipment in it and clean up alot of under hood issues,
#1, i have a leak somewhere, pretty sure its coolant but the # 6 valve cover is pretty messy.

#2 power steering, this will be the third pump i have put in the truck in 2 years, there is so much pressure in it it leaks right out of the cap, solutions?

#3 Electical, just want to run some newer cleaner looking wire, like a new positive starter wire, looks pretty old and beat up.

#4 Starter, just needs rebuilt. when the trucks cold, the starter will miss the gear and spinn freely, but it will always catch if you turn the key back and try again.

#5 Intercooler, probly opt for a ps intercooler, mines missing a few fins.

i think for now im just going to worry mostly about the body, the wy fuel prices are right now, im going broke feeding a hemi, $110 to fill and 450 kms to a tank, not fun. I know someday, probably sooner than later i will get a fuel pin. i would like to do turbo and injectors someday but the banker (gf) is telling me thats a no no.

opinions, answers? anything would be helpful, i have all the time in the world and my budget is in my coin jar. thanks

I'll start off with good luck to you. Sounds like your gonna have some fun ahead of you.
First thing I would say is start taking some of the lead out of your right foot. I used to have a quad cab 4x4 hemi truck I got consistently 600-650km per tank. Which was about 18mpg.

Other then that good luck don't get discouraged

Just remember these 1st gen's are worth it, don't get discouraged. Time and money are my biggest roadblocks to getting my truck to where I want it.

As far as battery cables, try to source some 2/0 welding cable, and convert your battery to the stud type terminals, makes for a much cleaner look IMO, and the welding cable is much easier to work with.

For the starter, there is a kit you can buy that upgrades to larger contacts, I plan on doing this on my spare starter.

If you haven't got it yet, some people online here have the rebuild manual for the getrag (or there is a link for it somewhere?) I have it in paper format in my '93 manual.

If you need any help with the project let me know, I am located ~45 min SW of Collingwood.
