I'll dig out the numbers and post a pic later today. So what I have is two filters in series, possibly with more effective filtering if the RECOR particle size is smaller, dunno that for sure

Meaning the stock location has been abandoned??

Most big trucks have dual fuel filters, with a primary and finer secondary in series.

One cheap source for the necessary filter heads would be a big truck boneyard.

I think I'll go hunting for a couple, soon as it warms up a little.

Then, I will have a box of FS1221 to swap to someone for something else I need.

Another trick I have seen is to rob the filter-head from an older Ford 6.9 diesel and mount it somewhere handy.

BK I don't get the significance of getting caught with the wrong fuel filter, ...anyhow re my filters my oem was an adventure now that I recall: I had to tighten it several times for leaks, finally ending up with it 'way tighter than I've ever done a spin-on. Meanwhile my "up stream" filter is RACOR and on the receipt as RACR45S-CM and "ELEM REPL.445R-02 MICRON EHC FILT -8". Decided not to send a pic as it's a real boar's nest in that area with headlight relays, elec fan relay, battery saver and not at all neat like others' posts. Plus I think most in this forum know what an after-market filter looks like. My headlight switch and harness self-destructed two years ago so I've jigged up switches and relays to do same. Some day I'll get in there again and solder in a scrounged block terminal and new switch, but works well as is, ...sorry

You took my statement in the wrong context.

Of course, in this communist "everything is against the law" world that we live in, that is completely understandable.

What I meant was, should one be out on the highway, many miles from home, and experience fuel-filter difficulties, such as blockage or damage to the housing, then, it would be a good idea to have the removable bottom portion of the stock fuel-filter available; because, the original stock filter is way easier to find in little bitty towns than the much rarer 1221.

Does that explain it better??
