Exhaust questions

I have a 93 D350 with a Pac Brake on it. I am wanting to install a 4" exhaust but am puzzled by Pac brakes Elbow. Looks like a 2nd gen flange. I have been looking in the search but have not found anything yet. Suggestions anyone?

I've got a BD brake mounted off the turbo just like yours. When Rip did my exhaust that is what he had to do - install a 2nd Gen down pipe. What I like is the fact that this pipe has 2 45 degree bends instead of 2 90 degree bends. If you have an auto tranny you will have to address the dip stick tube - some I've heard have used a 2nd Gen tube.

If you're looking to build your own 4" exhaust system and want to buy pipes individually like I did I'd recommend Diesel Performance Systems, as they sell an exhaust system for the 1st GEN trucks (but doesn't have a 4" downpipe). Well, what I did because I wanted a true 4" system that I didn't have to pay over $500 for was buy their 2nd GEN 4" downpipe and 1st GEN 3" inlet to 4" outlet transfer case pipe. Then I cut the first 4-5" of the 3" diameter pipe size off that transfer case pipe to install on the 4" downpipe. You also have to buy the 2nd GEN cast elbow to install on the stock turbine housing to allow for the 2nd GEN downpipe to bolt up. It was a relatively easy way to make your own system and yes you do have to watch the automatic trans dipstick tube as it's in the way, but the downpipe will get past it if you rotate the pipe to the correct angle on the cast elbow. My truck being an automatic I actually have the downpipe rubbing on the dipstick tube, not allowing me to pull the stick out to the check the fluid level. It's something I need to modify to get it over a 1/2-1" so the dipstick is free. Other then that it's a great system and I wouldn't trade it for another one.

I haven't seen one installed but since your down pipe comes off of a 2nd Gen you should be able to find one in a junk yard. They come out fairly easily - I would take mine off and see what you can find in a U-Pull it junk yard.

I have a stock dp from my 2nd gen. I may be able to use it to see what all I will have to move or change to be able to get a 4" in place. Good idea Bob!!
