Exhaust Brake

Does anyone have a exhaust brake hooked up on a first generation? I know Banks doesnt offer one. I cant seem to find a vendor that does. Does anyone know who offers these and for how much roughly they are?

Jacobs and Pacbrake both make turbo-mount brakes for the 1st gens. Any Jacobs or Pacbrake dealer should be able to get them for you. They're just the 12 valve 2nd gen kit with a special downpipe.

I have the US Gear exhaust mounted brake. It dosn't require replacement of the exhaust springs so its not as strong as some but it comes on 100% when its on. I hardly ever use the brakes anymore highway driveing. Bought it from DIS but see them on e-bay now and then.

Good I went to Gear Vendors and looked for the exhaust brake. I have one of the over/unders and tried to contact them. They seem flaky, they never contact me back.

Was the brake hard to install?

To have a exhaust brake I need to either have a transmission that has a lock torque converter or a manual. Am I correct?

Yes. It won't be very effective without a direct connection between the engine and the wheels.

Went on easy on mine. Running all the wires was a little pita. I used all the stock wires so it works automaticly but I run it manually most of the time. The time I like it most is downhill with sharp turns where you can't go fast. Anytihing over 55 and I have enough wind resistance where I don't need it much. I'm guessing it took me 1 1/2 -2 hrs to install it.
