Electrical gremlin, oh goody!
Electrical gremlin, oh goody!
So, here's the deal. The big white truck was parked for 6 months due to a messed up front end and some priority issues.
So, I get it back running and lo and behold I have no power windows and no blower fan. They were working when I parked the beast, but I did have to boost it a couple of times. These are controlled by fuses #11 & 12, which are both powered off of the same buss bar. They both work if I jumper them from one of the other buss bars.
Trying to get to hole 50 on the dash side of the bulkhead connector is dang near impossible. But being as it's winter here in the Great White North, what do you folks think? Is the problem under the hood with the fusible link or is it in the ignition switch?
The underhood circuit is 2A, the underdash is 22A. And where are those fusible links under the hood anyway
?
Any and all advice and wisdom welcomed and considered!

Well I can't offer much advice sept to say that I'd leave a jumper in there to keep the heat on. I grew up in Stonewall and know what a full Manitoba winter can do to ya.
Hope you get her fixed soon!!!

no heat
its probably at the bulkhead connector on the firewall on the drivers side mine done exactly the same thing alanhttps://www.dieseltruckresource.com/forums/images/smilies/new1/coffeetime.gif
Thanks, dizzel. If I run a jumper, I'm not going to have problems because of 12v coming into the buss bar from 2 sources am I? If it magically were to come back on, I mean. Not bad this week, staying right around -5C or so. But the last 3 weeks were -30, -38 to -52 with windchill. And while that's *C so -5 =20*F or so, the other 2 numbers are just way too cold no matter what scale you use!
dsl ram, how did you fix it then? Just disconnect the bulkhead connector, spray in some contact cleaner then dielectric grease and re-assemble? Or is it more in depth than that?
I'm thinking I'm gonna run it into a bay at the Firehall in the morning so at least the air will be warm!

I can't see it hurting anything having electric coming into it from two sources, so long as HOT doesn't get to GROUND.
I figure you simply have a corrosion issue, seeing as how the problem surfaced after a long sit.
Possibly a good wiggling of the big firewall plug thingie, already mentioned, will make contact.
I can't see it being a fusible-link problem, unless it had previously been carrying current through a burned link and dis-use has allowed corrosion to break the arc.

I had abad Fl on my first truck( a 91) and it would sporadically make contct, so the problem could be there. They are located on teh drivers side fenderwell, straight down from teh front of the hood hinge..
I wodl think you more likely have a problem in teh wiring harness at teh fuse block.

Thanks guys. Turned out to be a fusible link that did it's job.No power into the bulkhead connector would explain no power out to the fusebox!
Replaced the link and it's all good now!
Just so you know. oh, one more thing, that FSM is a Godsend when it comes to chasing electrical!
