What is the usual culprit in electric mirrors not working? Can the mirrors be removed from their housings to access and the electric motors?

 

If they are both not working I would first check the fuse then the switch, if only one of them is not working then take a look at the wires in the harness between the door jamb and the front edge of the door for any loose or broken wires.

The glass is supposed to be able to pop out of a ball and socket assembly but I have never had them apart although I need to explore them.

I would be afraid the 20year old plastic would break if I took it apart just to have a look at it.

If you do take them apart please do take some pictures so we can also have a look inside.
