Egt

My stock 1990 w250 will go above 1200 on the hills hauling about 5000 lbsthe probe for the pyrometer is mounted 6 ins behind the turbo. I removed the box to build an air ride like a kilderman and the muffler where the pipe goes into it ia reduced down to 2.5 ins so I put a straight pipe on it while installing exhaust brake will this help. How am I going to get on board air I need about 80lbs?

When you say behind the turbo, do you mean (1) in the exhaust manifold just before the turbo, or (2) after the turbo in the down-pipe?

1250*F is the 100% duty cycle (run it all day) figure for our trucks as measured just before the turbo.

The typical stock/OEM expected EGT after the turbo would be around 900*F. With that, you're running a bit hot.

With nothing listed in your sig, we don't know what kind of truck you have, what mods done, etc.

Help us help you, what have you done to your truck? Is it dead-stock? Auto or manual? Fuel screw run in a LOT?, Big-Honk'in-Air-Filter?

The only thing I have done is push the pump toward the head a little other than that bone stock 1990 w250 with a standard 5 speed. I have it in the shop for the winter and trying to do some stuff to it sure needs more power

If you are hitting 1200 degrees after turbo. Add at least 300 to that for before turbo temps. You need more air. Time for a turbo upgrade.

As far as a air compressor. The options are limited. you have small cheap electric or the higher quality electric compressors. Price starts around $100 for cheap electric compressors to $2000. It depends on your budget on that one.

If you have factory AC some people say you can convert it air compressor usage.
