I am assuming you can buy a new spring, piston, and bronze bushing? I realize you can regulate, but I prefer it to be a LP pump from the get-go.
I'm running a HP pump with a LP pump spring in it. Used to run a HP pump with a regulator when I had the big VE with a seal retainer on the truck. Switched to a LP spring when I changed it back to a stock pump when I was chasing an air leak I could never find.

Ok, so.............. I will need the spring, piston, and bronze sleeve to do it?

Just the spring is all that is really needed.

A rebuild kit for a LP pump will have it.

Wannadiesel,

Am I understanding this correctly?......... just buy a LP piston lift pump rebuild kit from Cummins in order to properly convert my HP pump? I just want to make sure (clearity). Thanks

I guess the next obstacle is getting cummins to cough up a part number for the rebuild kit, just using the part number for the low pressure pump!

Since the LP pump is common on Case engines, wouldn't Case have the correct rebuild kit ??

Possibly, but try getting part numbers from anyone at case is harder than pulling teeth!

Yes, just swap springs and you have a low pressure pump with the volume capability of the high pressure pump.

Bad news.........I called Cummins NW and they explained that no rebuild kits exist for the piston lift pumps. I asked about getting a replacement spring for the lift pump, no individual parts are physically available. So........ does anyone else know where I can get the low-pressure spring?

That is what I was afraid of. I had heard before that no rebuild kits are available, but was hoping that they just didn't ask the right person!

Too bad, no idea where to get just the spring.

I was disappointed to know that converting a HP to a LP lift pump was not an option. I'm not to fond of the idea that I have to buy a regulator and set fuel pressure. I also read someplace that boost needed to be compensated too.
