Early 1st Gen Smoker

Who else has a well tuned Non I/C'd rig that can cloud the sun with the skinny pedal on the floor? This thing has me wondering if someone put some bigger injectors in it... 36psi and hot EGT, too hot. Turbo and I/C needed...

Nope I can hit 38 PSI with stock injectors and the pump is only two turns in from stock. I can smoke out an intersection no problem but have it turned down lower than stock right now, trying to get good mpg. This is with a 98.5 hx35 and 16cm hot side.

How do you like that HX35? What kind of EGT are you seeing?

It is a good improvement from the baby h1c. I got it mainly for the MWE slot. I was running a stock IC h1c 54cm cold side and pinwheel/backing plate and was getting mad boost flutter. I really like the hx35 a lot. I got the one that is a rare bird, this flavor only came out for 98.5 half year 24V. But it came with the 12cm housing mounted on the hot side, not the cold side like later 24vs. But it is a 54cm wheel with a smaller base than the stock hx35s of previous years as an emissions thing to facilitate faster spool-up to clear up the low end >.> the downside is that the backing plate isn't replaceable and in order to put a larger pinwheel on there (60cm 6 blade) the backing plate needs to be machined to a larger diameter.
I can hit 38 psi on higher rpms easily, 30 psi mid range rpms. MWE slot makes it worth it.

I love my HX35/12, that and my intercooler install........egts just are not a issue any more.

with the baby H1c (non intercooled) it was vary easy to hit 1,250*
Now 1000* is as high as it go's

some day i will have to change the 12cm housing as i build more power........But for now, it a real kick in the pants

sounds like you need to bump your timing some more.
When i get tailgaters I lug it and cloud out 4 lanes with some black love...
But my temps dont get super hot cause i got my timing probably too far advanced.

Timing is bumped over spec. You have to remember that the non-I/C plunger lift is 1.40 compared to I/C 1.25mm.

I am impressed with the performance now more than ever. Transmission will not hold for long... I was cruising the intersate the other day and it will even puff a small cloud when punching it down to pass at 80+ mph. This last tweaking, I got it dialed in. Time for a turbo and I/C.

sounds like you have a nicely tuned truck. As said above, advancing the timing a little more will drop the boost and make it even more responcive, an increase HP some. If you dont tow heavy or plan on running LPG then upping the timing would be the best thing to do to drop EGT's, lower boost, and increase HP.
