eagle 589 wheels on first gen

OK I figured out what wheels I want, eagle 589s 16 x8 and plan to run BFG 285 75 R 16 tires. What I want to know is if anyone has run these wheels on a first gen with the 1/2 inch wheel studs on a truck run near max gvw all the time. The web sites that have a fitment chart don't show the 1st gens as using this wheel the sites without charts list by wheel and lug pattern as ok, I called local dealers they say its ok, except one who said I should have hubcentric wheels but even the stock ones ride on the wheel studs. Only difference I can see between the 94 up and mine is the 1/2 inch studs on mine and the 9/16 studs on the later trucks. Also has anyone ever changed the studs to 9/16 on a first gen? Thanks for any help.

Re:eagle 589 wheels on first gen

As I posted about 6 weeks ago I too replaced the stock wheels on my '92 with the alum wheels off my '86 ford. They are beautiful wheels and they fit the pattern of the dodge . The studs on the dodge are 1/2 " and much shorter than the ford studs (by about 1 &quot. Now it takes tapered nuts to center the wheel on studs that seem a bit too short as well.
I have been told they are the WRONG wheels for this truck. The alum wheels are very heavy duty but my mechanic said they could break.......plus all my driving in on mountain roads with my utility box loaded.....
I have thought of re studding the wheels but what a hassle and maybe the RIGHT wheels would be better. I have to ck around to see what others are running on their rigs... baron

http://www.aewheel.com/wheels_detail.cfm?id=23 Here's a link to the site. I looked at a book for the american racing baja wheel which looks the same and it showed a listing for my truck so I guess they are ok. Still want to check a little more because I plan on a long trip to Alaska next year and don't want any problems. I also almost never drive without my 2000 lb camper in the back. The wheels are rated for up to 3400 lbs my only concern is mounting them on 1/2 inch studs and carrying a load all the time. As far as the length of the studs go I read that the nut should thread on at least as far as the stud diameter, 1/2 inch in my case.

DJ
I have had AR Bahas on my '93 and have had no problems. I have made a few trips from NH to MA (120 miles) hauling as much as 3000#s of wood. The only thing I would say is to re-torque them after you have driven a few miles, I think this would apply to any alum. wheel you put on.
Art

Thanks for the replies, I'm going to get the 589s. I have to borrow a wheel off my sons Ford (285 BFGs) to make sure they fit with the camper weight on it then go shopping.
