drw d80 studs

So I'm in the process of my dually conversion. I got free rein on a cab and chassis 4x4 dually (5speed swap for my friend).

I don't have my truck here at the moment but arnt the d80s 9/16 studs? This truck looks like it has 5/8 studs front and rear. I think a few of you guys have swapped a drw d80 in your trucks. Did you upgrade the rear or downgrade the front?

I didnt do either- I left the 5/8 up front, and 9/16 on the rear. It requires carrying an extra socket. I had a flat faced 5/8" hole dually rim for a spare. But, I use spares as they were originally intended- use just long enough to get me to where I can get the flat fixed.

It may be possible to put 9/16 studs on the front. I'd think putting 5/8 studs on the rear would require machining the drums and hubs of the D80.

Is the D80 from a pickup or C&C? MAkes a difference if you're putting it in a pickup.

I already have the d80 in my truck. It was from a standard one ton. The front end I'm getting is from a CC truck. I think 5/8 is kinda overkill for the front. Maybe I can swap those to the 9/16. It would seem pointless to swap the rear over since the 2nd gen trucks can handle alot

I down graded the front of my truck when I did the D80 swap. Mine being 2wd I bolted 4wd 2nd gen dually adapters to my stock rotors, so now it's 9/16 studs.

Hmmm yeah I don't know what to do. Luckily I have a GREAT local parts house that has books on studs with all the dimentions. Ill take a hook and find something out. Before this CC truck I had never seen a 1st gen dually and was amazed at the huge wheel studs

BTW do you guys know the difference in the track width of the dana 70 and 80 dually axles? Mine is in but my truck is still a SRW till I can buy fenders (3 week wait from arrowcraft)

Not sure on the track difference. You say you are a running a Cab/Chassis Dana 80 right? I know on the older D70's there is a big difference in the track width, I think it's around 8" total width difference.

No. I got a dana 80 out of a early 90s 2nd gen standard one ton. The front dually axle I'm using is from a cab and chassis truck. Did u notice a big difference is width after swapping it?
