Downpipes

Ok, so Stans, and Sourceautomotive have 4" Downpipes right? Which downpipe is better, and if it is stans, which one should I buy? I have an hx-35, with a similar flange to the h1-c.

even though sourceautomotive's downpipe is about $210, it does have a 3" v-band flange and they have a good rep throughout these forums. if it were me, i'd buy from them.

The only reason source has their down pipe with a flange is because stans came out with their's all welded with a flange. I got mine from source before this so I had to weld my own flange on there.

If you ever think you might upgrade turbos you ought to get the DP with the 4" hx-40 type flange.

Yours came with the heat sheild? Mine was $190 from Source plus almost $60 shipping . Very nice though, and my adaptor was welded on. SHould have gotten the 4" though since I now have the HE351cw to put on. They want over $50 for the adaptor, but the local diesel shop had a fleetgaurd one under an International parts number that was under $11. The same Cummins one was about $30.

Home made is cheaper and just as good. Bad pic, sorry. Just sold the truck today, so can't take any better pics.

So The Stans HX-40 Downpipe has a 4" flange, and I can buy an adaptor to go from 4" to 3"? Is that correct? Will I still have clearance between the turbo and the firewall? (hx-35 sits about an inch farther back than the h1-c.)

Thanks guys! Good Info!!!

i don't know if you could buy a flange from them, but wherever you get it, you'd need 2 v-band clamps. i'd say buy the downpipe for the h1c for now. when the time comes for an hx40 or any other turbo with a 4" outlet, cut off the 3" flange from the downpipe and have this welded onto it...

That isn't the right one for the HX-40 style.

Bottom line is you cant go wrong with rip. He offers them with the hx-40 flange and the hx-35.

Ok guys thanks for the info. The stans or the source auto pipes will both clear the firewall on my hx-35 right? Is there one that clears better? Thanks again guys!
