does ur ABS work
I hate antilock brakes.
I'd rather lock up the rears and keep my steering than lock up the fronts and lose all control.
I prefer to know ahead of time what my brakes are going to do, and know the limits of when I can stop vs when they will lock up. Put a computer controlling the rear brake pressure in that mix, and I never know. If people had the ability to actually DRIVE, there would be no need for ABS.

Sort of what I was going to type so I will save my ink.
Anti-lock brakes are a real hair-raising adventure when towing real loads.
I never had a problem stopping with plain old-timey brakes.
I don't trust any anti-lock mess and what do people that do trust them do when they malfunction ?? Wreck, I guess.
Agreed, anti-lock brakes are just like everything in the world, we used to get along fine without them.
I have had some bad experiences with ABS myself. When it gets confused, which is entirely possible, all heck breaks loose. I prefer consistancy, and can control lockup myself.
Now, the brakes on my 02, glorious!

Pulled my glovebox down and turns out the previous owner had unplugged it. Works great now. My rears must work diff. than others because they lockup way before the fronts. Nothin like tryin to stop with the E-brake
I ixnayed my RWAL a while back after it started going haywire. Totally bypassed it completely (cut/flared/connected the in/out) and adjusted the rear drums properly. I have brand new one-ton stuff in my rear, brand new master cylinder, and brand new calipers. Since I re-did it all a few weeks ago (rears were done in february) I've tested the crap out of 'em and I haven't had any lock-up or stopping issues whatsoever. Mind you I do have a canopy on it too but I'm not sure what difference a couple hundred pounds will actually make.
Cheers!

I need to fix mine. No it doesn't work. I recently totally locked up my rear tires tring to stop for a red light in the rain. My rears lock alarmingly easy. The fault code says the issue is in the speed sensor or wiring/harness to it. The harness gets power tthrough it sometimes and sometimes it doesn't. I need to pull the wires down and have a little inspection to find out what exactly the issue is.
The PO said the ABS worked well for him, and he's a good friend so I believe him. The ABS and brake lights came on back in June. I hadn't worried about it until now because the brakes worked fine but now that things are getting slippery I really wanna get the RW ABS going again...

bump
I told my mechanic to figure out why I didn't have a parking brake warning light and he came back telling me it's all connected to the rear ABS. I'm a little surprised that Dodge put an ABS on these old monsters, but I'm having the garage fix it right since 90% of the time I'm running empty
this is how I approach it. My truck is dangerous when my rear wheel abs doesn't work. The rears lock up real easy otherwise.
That said, my ABS doesn't work lol
A large chunk of ice broke the harness off right at the diff. I need a new one. I should really get off my lazy butt and go look to see if the gasser parts truck has one. It is a 92, and should... I think...

If the controller is properly wired, it should not affect the trucks brake wiring or system in any way.
The electronic ones get their signal from the "cold" side of the brake-pedal switch.
The better really old ones actually TEE into the master-cylinder with a hydraulic line.
Of course, it is untelling whether the installer knew what they were doing.
