disappointment
I had an 89 put 340,000km on it . It was stock and only let me down once. (lift pump). Did brakes u joints a few seals water pump nothing major. I still miss it. I sold it to a fellow who drove it across Canada to a farm, he called me a year later to say how good it has been to him. The only reason I sold it was because my neighbor gave me a deal on my 98. Would I buy another on? In a minute.
Thanks guys. I'm impressed with the responses.
With regards to the power department, She's a four wheeler with a dana 70 posi and 3.54 gears. I chained it to a tree on hard packed gravel, and it wouldn't spin a tire in 4 high. Just hummed away. On the highway, turbo does nothing. Its working, but the intercooler is literally perforated. The salt got under that black rubberized coating and eroded the aluminum. But this motor sparks up like a 60's car, and burns no oil, and doesn't smoke even under load.
I took off the wall panel and rubber access gromet on the drivers side while putting new pins and bushings in the drivers door, and theres surface rust and wetness inside. The previous owner put new rockers in the truck but didn't fix the problem. The roof of the truck has rust showing, so I'm having the paint on the cab striped, epoxy primered, and repainted for the stripe up. The windshield will be pulled at the bodyshop and a new one installed after the work is completed. I'm not going to have this on rust away on me.
How do I put a pic on this thing?

advance the injection pump timing, replace the intercooler with a piece of pipe, replace the turbine housing with a 12 or 14cm non-wastegated housing, put boost/egt gauges on it, and crank the fuel screw... you'll quit kicking yourself pretty quickly after that
