DieselPower mag. 527HP first gen?? Tommy Martin?

I'm reading my Newest DieselPower mag and I see in the "redneck nationals" event coverage section a guy named Tommy Martin has a Club Clab 93 D250 with twin turbos and it was dynoed at 527HP and ran a 8.4 in the 1/8.

Heres the article that is under the picture of it

This immaculate, twin turbo'd first gen owned by Tommy Martin made 527HP on NADM's dyno and ran a best of 8.42 seconds at 83 mph in the E.T bracket class. The Old dodge was impressive,as tommy ran faster than his 8.6 dial in (broke out) in the first round, which took him out of the rest of the day's action. Despite this, the truck got a lot of looks from spectators. And after hearing the truck's story. We'd say Tommy has turned his once junked 93 D250 into a real head turner
Just curious if it was ve pumped and if anyone is familiar with the truck.

Look up JQMile on here. I think he is the one that owns project rust bucket and works for that mag. He would probably have the scoop on that truck. Would be cool to see another VE cummins doing well.

I'm mad at JQmile for not doing more updates in the mag on rustbucket.

I was so excited to open this issue and see the 6.9 ford truck being worked on and rustbucket 6x16 injector install!!

Neither one was there!! lol... i know how to make a 6.0 powerstroke reliable now though.

I believe that truck is a p-pumper that just happens to put down the same numbers. As for the 6x16s, I made more boost and heat, but not more power. I think my drive pressure is through the roof and a wastegate will help me out, so one is going on there soon.

haha JQmile, watch every kid keeping up with the magazine article put 6x16's in his truck and burn a hole in a piston and then send an email into your magazine saying how much you screwed up his truck

Seriously though, that could happen.

I met a guy at englishtown last year, out of the 30 people that were there the day of the truck only drag races, there was 1 first gen there that was an 89 D350 727 truck. I asked him what he had done to it and he said dynomite stage 4 injectors and i cut the collar off of the fuel screw [eek] and ran it in until it ran away and i put in an ol smokey pin. he smiles and says, she goes good bro

and i say "whats your egt's at WOT?"
He says- I'm not sure, I don't have gauges, im following the diesel power mag buildup and i think gauges arent that important, my turbo sounds like its knockin, i'm gonna put a 97 turbo on it and maybe get a boost gauge"

My dad and I sold him a 3200- spring that day and advanced his timing an 1/8......Also showed him that our 91 non i/c would peg a 1500 egt gauge with one turn on the screw. lol

I guess noone pays attention to the warnings you put in the magazines, but make sure you put a BIG warning in the 6x16's article.

Is that wastegate welded to the stock manifold? What size is it?

Yeah it was a rigged deal that a buddy did for his truck. He says it'll crack eventually, but hey if that's years from now it'll be fine with me!

PS--those 6x16's will hit 1500 in second gear! Only 1200 though on the juice.
