Diesel Day at Winterport Dragway 2011

Today was the diesel weekend at our 1/8 th mile track. I got 2nd this time. I broke out by .03 seconds so I frigged myself. The run before I had a 9.42 dial in, ran a 9.51 and within 5 minutes we went for the final round. I changed my dial in to 9.47 because the guy I was racing was pretty good at the tree and making runs. Anyway, for some reason I ran a 9.445 right after I had made the slower pass. I had been getting a little slower as the day heated up. I started making passes at 8:30 and as the heat came on I kept getting slower. I went from 9.38 to 9.41, to 9.44 all the way up to 9.51 a few runs. I thought I had a total handle on it, but bit myself in the butt. Anyway, very happy just the same. I have done drag racing twice now and got a 1st in 2009, and a 2nd today. Its pretty fun. I even did a 2 wheel drive pass in my final practice lap. I spun over 600 feet posi and then let off. Every one liked it.

Congrats, man. Good to see old iron bringing a trophy back to the trailer, especially considering the potential/cost of the CR trucks you were up against.

I had a BLAST Richie! Good seeing you again, and thanks a bunch for giving me a heads up on this.

BTW, figured out the issue with my leaking fuel pump. The fuel pin kept falling out causing the leak on the dually, common issue on grooved DennyT pumps. Thanks for letting me know about that common issue as well. Congrats on the runs!

A fan assisted fuel cooler in the return line is your friend.

Congrats on the win.

Well, I had more heat in everything for the final, yet, it ran quicker, and broke out of my dial in. Must have just got a breath of better air, deep staged, something. O well. 2nd is good. pretty good payout to.

Next year never seems to come. I need to shape up and get that finished.

I should have given you my camera so you could have filmed the full track burnout. I seem to have rubber stuck under the fenders.

I figured you where done with the time trials when you drove through the water trap and did the little burnout... didn't expect you to do the full length burnout though. A video would have been good to show the tail sliding around at about 3/4 track

I didn't quite spin all the way to the finish lights. I must have been doing 40 or so while still spinning and could picture it going around and I would be upside down. I let off just before crossing over. Later in the day I could still see my posi lines
