did some work to the truck. impression and Questions.

Hey guys, today i installed a new lift pump in my truck. when i wrecked my old motor, i bougth a brand new lift pump to see if the no oil pressure issue had something to do with the lift pump. it didnt, so i took the lift pump off the motor and kept it. the motor i put in my truck had 248,000 on it when i put it in. about another 1,000 now. i didnt know if the lift pump had ever been changed, so i decided to throw this one on today. what a difference this made in the trucks idling, and overall performance. also, the other day i noticed i was only getting a little more than 3/4 throttle travel, so i fixed that today. the truck is a whole new animal now.

My only question is this, now when the truck sits for like an hour you need to have your foot on the gas pedal a little bit for it to start. it fires off without your foot on the pedal, but then it will die. what is causing this. the truck still always starts, but it just needs a little throttle to do so. once it starts, it idles smooth and everything.
what could be causing this?

Sounds like an air leak. Check the lines around the fuel pump you just inbstalled. Fix the leaks and bleed all the air out and you should be good to go.

ok, fixed it. the inlet tube that goes into the pump and attatches to the line from the tank was loose. i tightened it, but too much, and i cracked the housing i just threw some JB weld on it and we should be good to go.
thanks guys.

ok, well i drove the truck before the JB weld dried and the pump sucked air, luckily it was as i pulled into the driveway. So, i took it off and put on the old one, and i cleaned it all up and put some JB weld on the crack and am letting it dry up over night. tomorrow i will put it back on.

does this sound OK?

U have to let JB set 24 hours. Yes it will work great. Hopefully thats the only issue.
