the hx came off a 97 i think? i ran it with my stock 1st gen downpipe. just wondering if the top of the downpipe on the diamond eye is reduced to 3" or stays 4"

 

Its reduced to 3" right at the flange, have a look at my build thread in the conversions section, there is a good pic of the downpipe on 1st gen with a hx 35

 

I liked my DE muffler...

Then again, going from 2 ft after the downpipe to a full 4" with muffler it is bound to be appreciable.

I have the kit... still trying to mount it because I have no hangers left on the truck.

IMO, get the muffler if there is any chance you may not like the straight pipe because you won't find a stainless 4" muffler anywhere else for $15.

The DE Kit relies on the factory metal pieces hanging down with the rubber on them for the DE clamps to go through. they rot off the truck.

 

There are enough clamps, but only ONE hanger.

Yup... all rotted off here. Even my bellhousing hanger bolt is sheared off.
