Decided to be the guiney pig and run the 3.5" Boost tubes.....

Tomorrow I'll be getting the end tanks redone on the 2nd gen IC to a full 3.5" flow, the stock "half" flow looks like it defeats the purpose of running bigger tubes. After I drop that off I'll start fabing up the boost tubes. I started the 3/8" thick metal flange for the intake manifold today, its going to be pretty sweet!

Besides just being different I'm trying this because I want to get this old 5 speed into the 12's and I'm hoping this will help increase airflow and get me spooled faster. I'm also looking into head studs because right now I can hit 50psi, with less pressure drop I may see a couple more pounds.

Most definatly! All I did today was adjust the valves, redo the fuel filler(the aux 60 gallon tank is in my Dmax now), and sanded/painted the rocker covers.

The new felpro gaskets I got are BLUE. I've only seen black and grey before, but the blue ones look really cool with the flat black motor. The factory injector line holders are the same exact blue, so it matches. LOL

I'll take pics of the IC before and after, and of the boost tubes as I build them.

We'll see how this all affects boost and EGT's too. Right now max boost is 50psi and it creeps up over 1600*. I'd like to at least get the EGT's down to 1450*max.

On a side note, I think its only hitting 50psi because after fueling hard for a few seconds the fuel pressure gauge drops to -0-. So its starving for fuel. With the new fuel system on I'm sure it'll fuel even harder on the top end.

From my compressor outlet to the intake I am running 3.5" everthing. Can't say I noticed anything different.
I have thought about running 3" to the intercooler inlet and leaving the exit 3.5" to see if it helps spool up.
This is the way a 3rd gen BANKS intercooler system is setup.

I had a partial picture of my tubes on here a while back.

I dropped the 2nd gen IC off this morning at a radiator/industrial heat exchanger place. They will be fixing a pinhole leak, cutting off the inlet and outlet of the IC, and reinstalling new full 3.5" ID inlet and outlets. That will get rid of a huge restriction if youve ever seen a 2nd gen IC up close its choked down to only half of the inlet and outlet. Then they are going to pressure test it up to 60psi. I was pretty shocked at the price for all that work to, especialy with all the aluminum tig welding involved. Only $75. I should get it back probibly monday and I'll post up pics of it.

I also finnished the 3/8" SS plate and tacked on the first 90* bend. I ran out of welding wire, all those dang BBQ pits I've been building. LOL Tomorrow I should get more of the piping cut and tacked together.

I got the new 3.5" mouthpiece all welded up today and have it primered. I'm going to paint it Garnet Red to match the rest of the truck when I get it repainted. (once I finnish all the body work)

Here is a couple pics.

Sweet! I would replace that 12mm exhaust housing, it's limiting your flow.

Yea I've been thinking about replacing it with an Aurora 3000. Or 4000. Still undecided.
