dang deer

Had 4 come down off a bank into me yesterday morning, now I need the chrome tin grill surround, and the right headlight surround/signal assembly. Tried NAPA online but didn't get anything. If I have to I'll tack on a couple tabs to the support and stick a couple tractor lights in it til I can find stuff.

The grill cracked but I think it will be fine. I'm not sure about the fender but I think it will be OK. I got the smallest one.

Sorry to hear this, I honk at night hoping they'll hear it and be aware. I like to think by hunting them We give them a death with purpose and more honorable. Besides, I like to make deer jerky.

hey-Hey!!!
Check the forum classifieds. I racked up my 1990 with two deer in a month's time. Last one I'd just grabbed 6th and was merging onto 23N at 75 mph and took one full on. Grill guard saved the heat exchangers but turn signals. bumper. guard. grill surround. and now the second fender were toast...I found everything I needed. ( now I need a keyboard; my comma button doesn't work )

Not all forum classifieds are equally stocked make sure you look at the best ones...
cheers
Douglas

Here was my truck when the PO hit one.

I think the deer swung down the side of the truck myself after hitting the bumper and braking the headlight bezel.

I did get an orange signal bulb and a new sealed beam and headlight adjusters today. I need to get them on it. I think I might be able to use the grill surround if I get a new headlight bezel/signal lense. I was able to straighten it out some tonight.

I doubt my grill guard would have helped if I had it on. Who knows. I am going to put 4 inch round signals on the it once I get it on though.

Sorry about your rig, man...

Did you get to keep the deer ? I hear they make great steaks and burgers.

I have those little whistles that are designed to repel wildlife, and while I see all kinds of large ungulates around the ditches they don't seem to go out in front of me. Sitting between my top markers to catch wind. The 2nd Gens must be pretty soft to bend a frame from a deer hitting the bumper.

hey-Hey!!!,
For your grill surround, try a piece of red oak 1/4x1 and a bit of particle board for an anvil. Cut the 1/4x1 to a proper working point( not actually so pointy though ) and with your 'soft' anvil you can do wonders to that Aluminium bit.
cheers,
Douglas
