DANA axle part number request
DANA axle part number request
Hey folks,
With the holidays fast approaching, I've had to defer any more hot-rodding for a bit . . . . .. maybe.
Anyhoot, I'm gonna take the opportunity to fix a few loose ends.
- Does anyone know the DANA/Spicer part number for the front DANA60 axle's universal joints? Mine are shot and sorely in need of replacement.
- How about the rear DANA70's pinion (input shaft) seal? Mine's leaking.
To date, I've had good service from the DANA products and see no need in going with something off-brand from my local parts house.
Any tips in doing the repairs? I suppose I'll go ahead and do a "How-To" while I'm at it.
Thanks in advance.

There are a few options for the Spicer wheel joints:
Forged with zerk-SPL55-4X
Forged w/o zerk-5-806X
Old school cast (still probably way better than the ones I cheaped out with) 5-332X
The pinion seal believe it or not is the same for a Dana 60 or 70 series.
TIMKEN Part # 9316
Spicer Part # 42449
The yokes interchange too. I almost dropped some coin far a new rear driveshaft until I discovered I could put the 70 yoke on a 60.

That is interesting to know.
For years, I have had a spare rear shaft, complete with u-joints and new pinion-yoke, mounted in a hanger on my old 78 Chevy K-20 that has had a 1978 railroad Dodge Dana 60 rear under it for years.
I snapped more u-joints and yokes than I care to remember until I started keeping an entire spare set-up, since then, no more breakages.
