Dana 80 swap?

I need some help from those who put a dana 80 in their truck. I am looking to swap in a dana 80 LS to replace my worn out open diff. I searched here for what's needed for the switch, but I am wondering how the extra 6" of axle width will look under the stock box, will the tires stick out too far? and what thickness spacers were needed up front?

Thanks Andrew

I got some pics in my gallery, on stock steels with 285's the tires are right at the edge of the box and I didn't use any spacers on front

WHy is the Dana80 6" wider? May as well put duals on there, then. I thought the D80 SRW was only 2-3" wider than the 1stGen.??

They are wider, but looks perfect for 16x6.5, 16x7 or 16x8 factory 2nd gen wheels. I bet it won't look bad with the stock 16x6s.
Due to the 2nd gen wheel offset you do not need a spacer on the front for 16x6.5 or 16x7 wheels but, they will be tucked under there a ways. 16x8, 2nd gen wheels on the front; minimum 1", 2" preferred.

If you run aftermarket wheels, spacers may not be needed since they are usually offset to the outside.
