Dana 80 brakes

I have been under the impression that all the drum brake 80s came with the 3 inch shoes, but I just pulled my drums and found 2 1/2 inchers.

This axle is out of a 94 single wheel 1 ton 5 speed truck, did someone put the wrong shoes on it or is it supposed to be 2 1/2.

BTW, the single wheel 80 is just a bit narrower than my original dually axle, so it will pull the wheels back under my flat bed nicely. Somrthing to consider if anyone is going to run spacers and dual wider tires, Swamper makes a 35 X 10.50 16 that is looking real tempting.

I thought the same thing, but i've recently looked into it, and I believe single wheel dana 80's did in fact come with 2 1/2" shoes, and dually's came with 3". Now one thing is, are your drums wide enough for 3" shoes, if you have them turned?

Definitely get the GM 1-ton wheel cylinders(~1994) and put in there, supposed to make a big difference

One other thing, how much space to you have between the spring and the inner dual?

I have a flat bed on mine so sheet metal clearance was not a concern. I have not put the axle in yet and will probably convert to single wheel any way, as I remember it looked like there was plenty of clearance for my application, couple inches at least.

Anyone need a 4.10 dually Dana 70 or dually front hubs for a 60 PM me.

Gonna do the wheel cylinders, #37337 1 3/16 bore, I am stuck with 2 1/2 brakes I can not find a listing for 13X3 shoes, 13X3 1/2 or 13X2 1/2, but the drum would take a 3 inch if I could find the part number for them.

I remember thinking it was an oddball truck, crushed it a couple years ago.

I could be wrong, and maybe someone else will know what's right, but I don't think they ever made them. There was a kid that ran around here claiming he had one because somebody put 3500 badges on it but it wasn't. Hope you can figure something out. Good Luck.

That D80 in your rig, do you have 9/16 wheel studs on it?

That is what is driving my single/dual wheel debate, I have the 5/8 studs on mine and I can not find a 5/8 stud that I can use on my D80 for the dual application, I can get 1/2 stud front hubs and replace the studs to 9/16 with single wheels, I just want matching studs front and rear.

looks like single wheel is winning.

Mine is 2wd drive so it was a bit easier to get the front and rear studs so they were both 9/16" studs. I just bought the front 4wd dual wheel adapters from a second gen and bolted my rotors to them.

I can't ever pick an easy modification, always have to pick the difficult ones. I drive over 100 miles a day for work so I put a lot of miles on a vehicle, i think I would rather burn up 4 tires at a time than 6, IDK call me crazy.

What width shoes are listed for a DRW Dana 80, if they're 3" they might just fit, could size them up?

Also i've got a dana 80 SRW 9/16" studs, and a flatbed, but its a 6.5' bed, not a dually 8' bed. I was kind of interested if dual wheels would fit and not rub on the springs, just in case I need the extra weight capacity.

The single wheel is 2 1/2, the dually is 3 1/2, I could fit 3 inch shoes on the drum, but I have been unable to find an application that uses 3 X 13 shoes.
