Hey Mike, I saw from your profile that you are in Tempe, I am in Tucson and thought what a small world b/c you happen to mention that crazy Swede and his business. Well I bought a 93 Dually from him and he is a good guy to buy from. Gave me a great deal on my rig. At any rate I thought what a coincidence!. When you go to buy the d80 could you possibly get his number again and pm me. I would like to buy a 12v for transplant into my 1950 COE Ford. Thanks, Don.

Bo is his name. He is quite the character. I know he's pulling a 12v from a 92 as we speak so you might have a pretty good chance of getting it before he ships it overseas. Apparently he just picked up a sweet 93'CC with some light front end damage, I might bug him about that! Last week on craigslist in Tuscon there was a 92 2wd for $2500 with a new pump on it!

Tried to wiegh the dana 70 and it seemed to be around 360 lbs. The dana 80 w/discs was around 440 with the swaybar. I think with drums would be less.
The track on the SRW disc brake version (01.5) was 6 inches wider than the 70. That was perfect to run the 01 16x8 wheels.......only 2 inches wider now overall. It looks factory.

Cool, thanks for the specs. I noticed that I had a little more room between the perches and the backing plates! So much for a "tight" turning radius!

With stock 16x6 steel rims I'm sure it will look a little funny. Now you can run the 2nd gen rims AND hubcaps with those 9/16 studs.

Funny because they will stick out more? Or because of my stock rims?

I don't know the width of your drum to drum axle. I measured from axle flange to axle flange (what the back of rim butts up against). If like mine yes, they will stick out. Just like when 2nd gen wheels go on a 1st gen 70, they look funny because they are now tucked under.

I just measured the dana 80'. Its 71.5" from WMS to WMS. Ive noted that it is the same width as my current setup---but to the outside of the tires!!!! Im kinda worried that it will be tooooooo wide? I think the front axle is only 69" wide???? Any input?

Put it in. It won't be too wide. At WORST it will be 3" wider each side which won't look that bad. Tucked too far in by 1.5" each side looks worse!

You got a point. Ive been yelling at my brakes all night, parking brake is messed upon the passenger side so the brakes are out of wack and tightening up too much. I just dont have the time to spend breaking down the hub just to take them out...been prepping the 80 for the transplant instead. Im gonna cut off the old shock mounts off and fab some onto the lower spring plates---should be quick...Did you have a shop shorten and balance your shaft? I think can do it but would it be worth it????

How did you guys with 80's deal with the spring perches? They are about 3/4" wider than my springs? I examined my new plates and figure I can mill them inward to deal with narrower spring width, but I dont see an easy solution for the pads??? Should I grind them for extra clearance, or??? Any one have suggestions on how to pull this off easier than what I am doing? Any pics of this setup would be great!

I figured someone would say that, I was thinking about some fancy grinding to clear the ubolt, but im not sure if that would be bad or not!
