D60/70 Power-loks?
ive got both sitting on my bench to install in my ramcharger, I fleebayed the 70, nice unit, the 60's are sought by the rockcrawling masses and tough to find, I bought a spool for a guy in ny and he sent me the 60 plock in trade, im going 3 series for 3.54 ratio, let me know your ratio and ill check some resources
Yup, 3.54 gears here too.
What are you seeing for pricing?
I had a line on a used 70PL for $300 but the guy must have found someone else as he wont return my emails now.
I see ebay they are going for ~$5-600 INC. shipping to me.

good price for the 70, guy on ebay was in Portland or Washington, watch for spun side bearings, that's what I paid before shipping, if it comes with old bearings, save em for setup, grind the inside so they slip on and off to make changing shims easy, once you like the backlash, press the new ones on. theres a guy that pmed me on pirate with a 3 series d60 powerlok, ill see if hes still got it, clutches in mine were good, but I have to change side gears to 35 spline for my early '89 front
Just a heads up if you've never driven one; trucks that are locked/LSD on both ends really suck on snowy roads. Even putting a LSD in just the rear will make it go down the road noticeably worse in the winter. My 88 1/2 drove into the shop on snowy roads in 2wd with no drama after putting the LSD in the rear it was a real handful on snowy roads and 4wd got used far more. That truck was in the shop about 2 hours for the limited slip install then straight back on the road you can't get much more back to back than that. It did work much better off road with LSD though. On thing I have personally noticed the shorter the truck the worse the negative effects of being locked. My 88 was a short box reg cab it was bad, the 93 ext, long bed has LSD also and it's not nearly as squirly in snow.
I only mention this because you probably end up spending 1000-2500 to do both ends and if you drive in snow it might now work well for you.

Ya my old '80 chev k20 had a gov-lok in the rear and a lock-right in the front, It was a little interesting at times when all locked up on ice/snow. I don't use 4wd a lot in the winter but i keep my hubs locked in anyways. I wanted both posi's because this summer i got stuck in the sand backing my boat into a lake.
I may still just go with a lock-right or no-slip in the front since i don't use it much anyways and its quicker/cheaper.
In reality just the front LSD/locker would probably be enough.

Now, having a something like LSD or a locker up front might be a different story--I've never driven anything that had that, and I could see that being difficult to drive on twisty roads in the winter. On the other hand, if it were some kind of air or electric locker which was completely unlocked for normal driving, that would really be nice.

I'm with midnite, have driven both prefer the LSD/ locked... never had issues with needing to use 4wd more often. Come to think of it, only "needed" 4wd one and I was going around objects in the road through the snow banks on the side of the road.
