You'll want to put the BOV in an intercooler/intake tube.

OK, but, WHY?

These will take more boost than that little turbo can put out.

Your head gasket can safely hold at least 40 or a bit more. With a stock H1C, there's really no use for one anyhow.

That thing won't build enough boost to open one. don't waist your time or money.

wmbthe4, what is the purpose of a BOV?

How does a waste-gate work?

Also, why do you want it?

If you read on how each one works, for a Cummins diesel, you either need 1 or the other, NOT both. Unlike the little gas 4 banger, these machines were made to take abuse. No economy cuts. Everything is either thick steel, iron, or aluminum.

Blow off valve is after the compressor but before the the intake manifold. It relieves the boost between shifts and when you let off the skinny pedel. Also makes sure you don't put too much boost and pop the engine.

Wastegate is after the turbo on the exhaust side to let gasses pass by the turbin so you don't over speed or make to much boost. Some of our trucks come with waste gates.

Unless your making boost of 55lbs plus I don't think you need any of this. Plus our trucks are built to have that boost in the system at normal operation. I think a Blow off valve would make you loose power. I'm not 100% on that but I do believe. Correct me if I'm wrong or please add to.

BOV's are for gassers that have butterfly valves that can shut at max boost which harms the turbo - our trucks obviously do not so the BOV is not a necessary component.

Sorry, I was unaware that any first-gen came with a wastegate.

IT would actually have to go between the turbo and manifold to be able to bleed the exhaust gasses around the turbo.

What are you talking about? A BOV is totally different than a wastegate...

Your turbo isn't stock and you still don't need a blow off.

A BOV for a diesel works differently than a gas engine. It takes seperate controls and costs several hundred dollars. Not worth the investment in my openion. BD sells kits if you must have one though, for about $500.

As for WG, cheapest and easiest way is to simply buy a used 12cm/WG housing off a stock 2nd gen turbo. Normaly under $100.
