Cummins stalls after put into gear

I have a 91 W-350 Cummins 4x4, and when i put into gear it will choke out unless i feather the throttle, but in park or out of gear it will idle fine. and after i get going it will shift and drive with out any problems. and the idle is currently turned way up and still does the same thing. torque convertor issue???

Sounds like a indexing issue on the injection pump. Although the fuel screw turned all the way up might help, the indexing and that are different.

Might be time to service the filter & fluid in transmission.

Torque convertor can cause these symptoms, however i would start with the easy stuff first. Check your fuel system out really well. I was a phone call away from getting a new torque converter, as my symptoms were doing the same as yours and many were claiming TQ needed changed. I decided to spend a couple hundred on a local diesel shop to do a assessment of my issues and at least tell me my engine was fine. Low and behold they Pinpointed the issue to the IP and injectors and that the TQ was not causing the issue. Even though i spent the money for the assessment and a ton more on the IP and injector fixed it was worth spending that money on the assessment to get the correct diagnosis of the issues and not throw parts at it until its fixed. My two cents!
