The Cat in my work truck has steel topped pistons, it's safe to 1200 or so post turbo. Supposedly the turbine will fail before the pistons do.
I just had gauges installed today. Link below shows where pre-turbo pyro is installed. If I hammer it from any speed, I see it hit 1200 as fast as the tach hits 3000. It falls back to 800-900 as soon as I let up.
I thought this thing ran hot, now I know it does.
