Crying inside and out
Crying inside and out
Well I sold my baby today. After seventeen years I was ready for another seventeen. My wife inheireted a half ton chevy. She can drive the chevy, and doesn't mind riding in the chevy. I tried to hold out, but I guess I would rather keep my marrige than my truck. I had it on the road with a for sale sign for one day, when the man called and wanted it. I tried to talk him out of it. I told him the A/C leaked, the fuel sensor was bad, the master cylinder leaked fluid out of the cap. That was about all the bad things I could say about my baby. He wanted it anyway put cash in my hand and drove away. If you guys don't mind I would still like to stay a member of the group for a while till my saddeness has gone away, although I don't think it ever fully will. I haven't posted alot, but have read and learned alot from you guys. Thanks for such a great place for First Gen owners to come to learn and appreciate their trucks.
Thanks Ross [Capp]

Why would we throw you out? After 17 years I'm sure you have a lot of helpful hints to share.
Your marriage is way more important than a rattly old truck, even though the trucks are a lot more fun. Maybe you can talk here into another one later.

Thanks for the reasurence Dave you have been the most help, and continue to be. The thing about it was the truck had no rattles. Man it was tight! My Dad still has his 91 350 so maybe he'll need me to help him with his sometimes. Even though he has bought a half ton also.
One more marriage soon to go down the drain.
Over time, the sad loss of your truck will fester into a big infectious wound, and it's loss will be a constant source of resentment.
Alas, the new has worn off of the crystal chandelier.
It won't be many more years before it's seperate rooms, then seperate ends of the house, then seperate houses.
If you really want to save your marriage, you better find that guy and see just how many thousand he will take to let you out of the deal; maybe it's not too late.

I'm lucky in this respect as my wife has long ago made it clear: "The truck is going nowhere". As for me, I'm not so sure she has the same resolve.
BTW ~ The truck is registered in here name.
Not too long ago, while at a Ham-Fest (amateur radio get together / swap meet), talking about used equipment prices, my older brother pointed out that in this case, like so many things, we really only pay rent for stuff. We never really own it.

My wife wanted to know why I kept 'that old truck'..." You're constantly working on it, or fiddling with something."
She agreed with me that a new one would be too expensive. So I simply took her shopping for a ' good used one, maybe a 2003 or so ' -- according to her.
After seeing the $30,000 + prices she agrees that my '93 is worth keeping...

Capp, Best to you with your next vehicles... Stick around - as you know this is a community of folks that know vehicles and just happen to know more about CTD engines.
BTW - I am fortunate as my wife loves the truck almost as much as I do. She chuckles when I comment about some thing or the other I want to do... Of course that has to come out of my discressionary fund side of the budget.

Well I've come to grips. I love my wife more than my truck. It's just that I still have my wife, but , I no longer have my truck. So there is a missing piece in the puzzle. There is no comparison of the two. A warm body next to you in bed, or a ruff noisy truck to ride in. I do still love my old truck, just not nearly as much as my wife.
I would not trade my Wife for the World she has helped me through alot over 35 surgeries and a complete rebuild after we rolled the crewcab last yr and even after I decided to sell my crewcab after 18yrs she told me don't worry we will buy a new truck in a few month's sure enough I now get to ride in a 08
and to boot she doesn't say a word about all my toy's I have and had agreed to let me build another crewcab .the hardest thing about selling the truck was our kid's grewup in the thing my daughter still kid's me about the first trip we took in the truck taking it from my Dad's to home we ran out of gas .Gotta Love wives and kid's

I sold my HEMI Road Runner and my '74 CUDA for the same reason early on in my marriage. We have now been married over 23 years and I think it was a good trade!
She calls my Dodge "the big, red, money pit" and hates to ride in it because of the buckboard suspension, but she knows I love her more than it, and I love it alot!!!
You made the right call my friend, and it will pay dividens later on.
