Crossover and borgeson. where to buy!?

Im taking my baby in for a little custom lift from national springs in San Diego and that will take about two weeks for them to build.. in the mean time i would like to order the steering upgrades. Probably going to get about 4" over stock . Just wondering if you guys have any opinions on places to buy from? Thanks!!

OK so I did some research and so far have found that the borgeson direct price and genos garage is pretty much the same... now the question is, how much benefit do you get from the heavy duty 943 shaft over the regular 940? worth the extra $$?

The difference in shafts is the 943 has u-joints at both ends while the 940 still uses the stock rag joint at one end. Most use the 940 as it is easier to install and will help eliminate some noise/vibration transfer through the steering shaft.

I have the 940 on mine.

ZERO benefit in fact its worse.

the rag joint is like a vibration damper.

So whats the good word on crossover steering? I plan on lifting about 4".. Is there a kit that bolts on with no fabrication required? I have confidence in myself when it comes to putting stuff together but I dont have access to a shop.

If going 4" or more than yes there are bolt on kits. Its under 4" that is tricky.

These are a few options but in reality anyones crossover for a D60 should be easily made to work.

Nice! Good to hear.. So the NWF kit seems to be popular on the DTR. In your opinion is this something one man (myself) with some sockets and wrenches could tackle on his own? I think I remember reading something about a pitman arm puller..? Is there a write up on this install when dealing with a lifted rig? Thank you!!

The NWF kit is out of canada and honestly i didnt have great dealings with them, not bad but not great. They were slow on geting me parts and didnt have some stuff in stock etc.

I have however had really good dealings with ORD, i had their crossover on my 6" lifted chev.

You will want a pitman arm puller yes. Otherwise a guy should be able to do it without much problem. You can use a cutoff wheel or the like to cut the old pitman arm off VS a puller, all depends on what you are comfortable with.

Hardest part is probably moving the steering box on the frame to the 2wd mounting location.

If you read the "under 4" lift crossover" link above you will see alot of the install. That was my install with only 2". Some would not apply but the general install would be the same.

This shows a general install but with heim joints instead of TRE's like you would have.

I have had the northwest fab kit for 5 years and love it. The only thing is the tie rod ends are generic and wear out fast. The right hand thread is common 1 ton gm. The left hand thread was hard to find since it don't exist. A couple of the 4wd websites do offer it tho.

Easy as pie to install, simple hand tools is all you need.
I did mine (exact same parts you ordered) last Thanksgiving. I had the whole axle off of the truck (complete rebuild / lift) so I'm not sure exactly how long the crossover / steering took by itsself. Are you replacing the steering box too? That was the most difficult part for me, and that was easy...
