Crappy Mileage 10 mpg
''My EGT's are 600 pre turbo at 65mph.''
One thing I've learned since changing my pyro to pre-turbo is that cruise temps are almost identical across the board. I used to see 550-600 post when cruising about 65. For the most part, those numbers are unchanged with the probe in the manifold. What is different is when I whack the loud pedal, 600 to 1000 takes about a second in 5th! The post reading would react a lot slower to hot-rodding. FWIW.
As for the smoke screw, just remove the stop nut and then the screw itself. You should be able to see how far to screw it back in before it hits the top of the pin. Thread it in gently with your fingers and you'll probably feel it hit. It won't be grabbing many threads, so just be sure it's safely in and put the locknut back. As for the starwheel, the 'stock' setting is different from pump to pump, so if you do decide to go in there, back it way towards the top and try it out...just mark where you started so you can go back.I'm starting to believe the injector theory, myself...

How much boost at cruise?
Mine were 248K mile originals, and I was still getting 18.5. I switched to POD's and it only dropped to maybe 17-18. I did do mostly highway driving, too.
Can't hurt to change them, though. Still, that is a huge drop compared to what is considered normal.
You have a tight TC, and haven't bumped the timing. I would highly recommend that.

Leaving florida with #2 heading north you switched to #1 somewhere along the line, traffic gets worse mpg drops. You should do better though. I would try dumping a couple quarts of motor oil in next time you fill up, if it gets a little more pep and mpg your pump us probably getting weak. I cleaned out my garage last week and ended up with almost 2 quarts of misc motor oil that I dumped in my tank when i filled up. It now idles almost 75rpm faster, smokes more, and has more power. I think it was enough to bost the pump pressure a little.
