coweling cracks
coweling cracks
Ok I'm takein on more water than the builge pumps can take out. I'm not compleatly sure where it is comin from but I suspect the large cracks in the cowel. Has anyone tried silicone in these cracks. I really don't want to take the front end of this thing off and I sure don't want to pay someone to do it. I can get to the cracks with silicone. I should think it just might work. Watcha think
Re:coweling cracks
I took some clear Permatex Silicone and filled what cracks I could get to with my finger. It seemed to help the noise, which, is why I did it in the first place.
I would try it, you may be able to get to most of the cracks, but I think to keep 100% of the water out you are gonna have to take the side off and do it the right way.

Re:coweling cracks
Yeah both sides are cracked pretty good. They seem to stop where another piece of sheet is welded to the cowling. I think I can get to maybe all of it with a piece of wood with silicone on it. I'm gonna give it a try anyway and see what happens.
Re:coweling cracks
On my truck the leak came from the vent on the drivers side. I took the kick panel off and sealed the vent shut and reinstalled the kick panel and vent grill and no more leaks. A couple of other likely places for leaks are the windshield and the cargo light at the back of the cab.

Hummmmmmmm
I'll check that out. Both sides are cracked pretty good and both sides leak. I know the pass side is leaking high somewhere but the drivers side could be either one. I'll have to take a look...thanks
