Cooling system upgrade time
As Ive posted Ive been having heat problems. My headgasket was good, so now I have the money/time to upgrade other goods. I need to know where the best place to get an intercooled model radiator, water neck, and fan shroud would be. Also if the fan is the same, or will atleast work with new shroud. Dont know if local auto parts stores are good place to get one. Id rather not get a junkyard one and have to have it rotted immediately. Thanks.

Meaning you never found one? I guess I can get some thin sheet metal from home depot and start hacking/welding to build my own, or make mine adapt. Anyone know if this radiator is decent? Im not sure if where you buy it from makes a difference, but this is a good deal.

I have a non IC truck, and the rad is origional from 89, Still cool well, AC running, and me in 5 th going 80 mph in 90+* weather,
Make sure that you can clutch is good, and dont trust the stock temp gauge,
I have some cheap 14$ water gauge in mine, elec sender, and it is good!
Also the IC truck rads mount different, Not only will you need the newer shrowd, But the way it mounts to the header panel is different, and you would have to fab some brackets, and your ac condensor might not match up eather, I am not sure about it though, So pplease before you have a fabbing nightmare, check and check again,,, Hopefully someone here has done the swap, and will chime in!
Peter.
Does it overheat?
are you gauging a bad rad from the stock temp gauge?

Im pretty sure gauge is close. I have had it get pretty hot once and smelled like it. I have replaced/tested everything. I believe my bottom hose is collapsing at higher speeds, when it heats up. But I also have an intercooler that I want to put in, and they wont fit around our huge ni radiator. Plus, I would prefer the crossflow design to our inefficient downflow. I am prepared to fab, as Ive been doing quite a bit of that for my would-be crossover, though now I may not need it. My truck has always run pretty warm, since I got with 85k on it. In other words, it is time for me to upgrade.
