Are we first gen owner's all this compulsive? I am beginning to think that this old bag of bolts is part of the family and that we are all in some way related
. Heaven help us all! I have spent more time and money fiddling around with this truck than I have on the boat in the last two years. In fact I haven't even taken the boat to the water this year. I'm getting real bad about doing things around the house. I need help

And then we realize how far down we have slidin on the slope, and realize, there is NO turning back!

At my recent graduation party with my entire family, we were assigned to read and write funny little poems/stories about another graduate. My oh so adorable cousin wrote one for me, which included the words "the 'cummings' will only take you so far, one day you'll have to get a new car." Needless to say my family laughed at me, quite embarassing actually. But you know, after that I pulled her aside and told her the cummins would never die, and if I ever got a new vehicle, guess what it would be. Its definitely a curse.
The way I look at things is somewhat different to the money-worshiping crowd that only thinks of what something will book for when the insurance company settles.
If the house has a leak in the roof and the truck has a leak in a hose, I will always fix the truck, first, and fix the house later, if time allows before the truck needs something else.
The way I see it, if the house "breaks down", it does so right at home, where we already are---no need to panic, call wreckers, or spend lots of money; no one gets stranded, in the dark, in the rain, in a bad neighborhood.
Whatever is wrong can be fixed whenever I take a notion.
The truck, on the other hand, ranges far and wide, lots of the time with a trailer full of very high-dollar livestock, many hundreds, even thousands, of miles from home.
If it needs dollars spent on it, to get me back and forth, or to just make the going more comfortable, convenient, or enjoyable, the truck wins the money game every time.
Just my two cents worth.

My truck is in the family for sure, but everyone else is getting used to the loud diesel, mine is here to stay. I am compulsive about my truck when something doesn't sound right or if it feels different. I guess I'm just crazy
