cleaning up my mess....
well since im replacing my trans cooler in hopefully the next couple of hours.... i have a great mess to clean under the hood
. theres trans fluid EVERYWHERE!!! pretty much on all pulleys fan and it slung up on the forst couple valve covers.
bottom line whast the best way to clean the engine and leave another mess in my driveway? my dad said go get GUNK or something so i might do that but i dont want to get my motor clean and then clean chunks of grime off the driveway.
also since my truck started leaking it left an awesome size puddle on my moms driveway. (yet another
) how can i get rid of the stain it left....moms not very happy, we just sold the house and move out in october so she wants it gone before then. a friend of mine told me to burn it with a torch...but i dont have the brightest friends so i think ill pass on that idea

there really is no way of not leaving a mess in the driveway. What if you took it to a car wash and left the mess there? Then take it home and just use some rags and regressed to get any spots that were missed. For the driveway i would put oil dry on the stain and broom it around a bit and let it sit for a few days. Oil dry will draw some of the oil out of the driveway.
What NOT to do is spray the engine with anything when it's hot. What I've used is brake cleaner spray, expensive but effective. Use eye protectors if you do. The driveway might benefit from some of those asphalt topcoats you can buy in 5 gal pails. I think you just broom it on and should look great if you do the whole surface.
i think im going to the route of brake clean and a good pressure wash at the car wash. one of my good firends did his stroker with simple green and ascrub brush so im gonna try that to. basically for today its just going to be a rag wipe down and some brake clean because my girlfriends b day aprty is today, but tomorrow ill go through a regiment of cleaning
if you have any available, try battery acid on the driveway. i charged the battery in my car a few weeks ago. i probably let it charge too long cuz when i came out there was small puddle of battery acid that had bubbled out and dripped on the concrete. it bleached the crap out of the concrete. maybe take a drop or 2 of acid from your battery and see how well it works first.

if the driveway is concrete then use muratic acid to clean it with..it is used for non organic materials...very inexpensive and can be bought at most hardware stores...battery acid is sulfuric and eats organic materials..not good to use and also against epa and dnr regulations..thats a big reason for the recycling of lead acid batteries..hope this helps
I don't know about the battery acid thing kinda hazardous, but if you want to use acid go to Lowe's/Home Depot and buy a bottle of muriatic acid. Can be used full strength or diluted. That will work on concrete, don't know about asphalt. Be careful what you use there, remember asphalt is oil based and some things may soften the surface up and you may not like the results.
If the driveway is concrete do not use a torch on it. That will cause the concrete to pop. The moisture expands and will cause the concrete to break and will leave little craters all over.

works great though.
