Cleaning the HVAC box, with a TWIST

Awesome job.

My 78 D200 crew cab has a square hole and sheet metal painted flat black with black screws. I've had to clean that out 3 times now. Smoke started coming out of the defrost. Those dang resistors inside the box burn leaves.....
I was crusing past West Marine today (before I saw Carmutts post) and stopped in.
My hole saw was just a hair too small, but with my dremmel, it was no sweat.
Good thing I didn't need to do this....
I like the clear cap, as I'm easily alerted to more crap entering my heater well. You wouldn't believe how much stuff was in there. I'm actually getting better fuel mileage because of all the excess weight I removed..... and my heater door actually closes now !
Can't say thanks enough for such a great idea. When I see stinkbugs crawling around in there, I can just laugh as they perish..... and stink up my truck !

Where did you get those floor mats!?
Well, to be honest, I didn't really think that I needed to cut my ac plenum box, after all I live in AZ and nothing bad happens here.
My jaw hit the ground when I got it open. If you live anywhere near a pine tree, you need to check too. Between the pine needles and the dust, the coils were probably 70-80% blocked. The air volume feels nearly double. I cut mine with a dry wall knife, came out pretty good...Mark

You got me T, I was freezing my tail off in the 113 we had today, so I used the traditional bow method to start a fire that I learned on Survivorman. Saved my life that dry tinder. I was also afraid that the needles might ignite my 100% anti-freeze. It's rough out here in the wilderness..Mark
