Changing Balljoints ?????
Changing Balljoints ?????
I have a dumb question about what balljoints to get ( I am going with Moog )
I just don't know what axle rating I have because it seems there are several options and I don't know what I have other than a 1992 D250 5.9L Cummins Club Cab.There is 3000#,3300# and 4000 lb axles. Any help would be appreciated greatly. I bought 4000 lb ones and I was told they won't work.
Part# Moog K7053T.Lower Balljoint
Thanks John

Hey man,
You got the heaviest axel offered. I don't know why parts stores don't have that information in their data base. But the diesel is always the heaviest axle unless you are talking about the rear end. The dually diesel has the biggest rear end parts.
Here's the write up from The Sticky on doing your balljoints with Moog part numbers also. I would HIGHLY suggest to replace the upper control arm bushing while you are there. It's not too much of a pain later, but you are already in there, and they really effect handling if they are dry rotted and shot. Only $50 more if you can swing the cash.

Good luck
EDIT (from when I did them):
Part numbers and price list (March 2010):
NAPA Wheel seals (4000# axle): NOS 22835 $15.29ea (2 req'd)
NAPA Brake pads (middle quality): SS SS7019M $42.99/set (1 req'd)
Advanced Auto Parts:
Moog Upper balljoints: K7082 $91.99 ea (2 req'd)
Moog Lower balljoints: K7053T $94.99 ea (2 req'd)

Thanks dzl damon, I am replacing everything in the front. Starting with the balljoints, control arm bushings, tierods, swaybar bushings, shocks, and coil springs. If I see anything else that needs attention. Just buying the parts alittle at a time (I don't have alot of money for everything right now).
